Presentation

The University of Cantabria is organizing SIEM_UC2023, a Seminar focusing on music education research. SIEM_UC2023 is held bi-annually and organized by different universities cross Spain. In this fourth edition, the Seminar will be attended by internationally, nationally, and regionally renowned professionals.

SIEM_UC2023 aims to encourage dialogue and the exchange of music education research experiences among teachers from different contexts and educational stages, as well as doctoral students. Furthermore, the Seminar seeks to foster collaboration between various institutions working in musical and artistic fields and whose activities are related to the proposed thematic areas.

“Intersections and Meeting Spaces” arises in response to the need to offer a meeting place for researchers, teachers and students with diverse artistic outlooks, providing them with opportunities to observe and reflect on how various lines of work intersect. At the crossroads, new opportunities can arise that guide changes and make better teaching and research possible. Redesigning cultural practices is undoubtedly a commitment shared by the organizers of this seminar.

The meeting, which will take place on June 22 and 23, 2023, will be a space for knowledge exchange. In addition to the keynote addresses and round table discussions, the meeting will include a space for the presentation and exhibition of posters as a form of participation, as well as workshops in which music, theatre and plastic arts interact from educational, cultural and artistic perspectives that are plural and inclusive.
